Are You Stretching Wrong?
DYNAMIC STRETCHING VS STATIC
Both stretching types will benefit you by
Increasing range of motion
Elongating muscles fibre
Decrease muscle and fascia adhesions
Facilitate correct biomechanical positioning
When to utilise each type
Dynamic is most useful before exercise, not only will it improve your mobility, but it will also improve blood flow to your muscles and heart, this will prep your body for the upcoming activity and decrease the likely hood of injury. Dynamic stretching is also useful as a progression of static stretching. Once adequate range of motion has been attained through static stretching, dynamic stretching can be applied to assist in multi planar movement and increased difficulty. The body is in a constant state of adaptation, exercises and stretches need to always be progressed to ensure positive adaption continues.
